First assess the crawl space, then the right material
A crawl space in the polder is often damp, and sometimes there is even standing water. We go down into it ourselves first to check the height, the base and the moisture level. Only when the space is dry enough do we fit the insulation. Insulating above a wet base actually works against you.
We choose material that can handle those damp polder conditions, biobased where possible. That way you keep the warmth inside while the crawl space can keep breathing, which prevents mould and a musty smell in the long term.

Is every floor suitable for insulation?
Almost every ground floor with a crawl space can be insulated. The important thing is that the space is high and dry enough to work in. During the survey we crawl underneath and can see straight away whether it is possible.
What is the difference between floor and ground insulation?
With floor insulation we fit the material against the underside of the floor; with ground insulation we cover the base of the crawl space. Which works best depends on the height and condition of your crawl space. On site we advise which approach delivers the most.
How long does the installation take?
In most homes the floor insulation is in place in a day. If the crawl space is very low or hard to reach, it takes a little more time. We discuss that in advance, so you do not face any surprises.
Do I need to prepare anything at home?
Hardly anything. We work from the crawl space, usually via a hatch in the hallway or the meter cupboard. Your floor covering does not have to come up and you can simply stay at home while we work under the floor.
Does floor insulation also help against damp?
A good approach reduces rising damp and condensation low down in the home. If there is standing water in the crawl space, we tackle that first. Insulating above a wet base makes little sense and can actually make a damp problem worse.
What does floor insulation cost?
That depends on the floor area, how easy the crawl space is to reach and the chosen method. A low or wet space simply takes more work than a high, dry one. After the survey you receive a fixed price; the advice itself costs you nothing.
