In the Haarlemmermeer you find very different homes side by side: post-war terraced houses in Hoofddorp, newer neighbourhoods in Nieuw-Vennep and older ribbon development along the Ringvaart. Which measure delivers the most therefore varies from one address to the next. The year of construction plays a part, along with whether there is a cavity in the wall, how much working space there is under the floor and what condition the roof is in. That is why we come round first to assess it. After that we tell you which insulation makes the difference in your home, and which we would actually advise against in your situation.
Floor insulation is fitted against the underside of the ground floor. That works well as long as the crawl space is dry and there is enough height beneath the floor to work in. Ground insulation instead lays an insulating layer on the base of the crawl space itself. In the Haarlemmermeer the groundwater sits high in many places, so out here in the polder we regularly come across low or damp crawl spaces. In those cases ground insulation is often the better choice, because we do not have to work underneath the floor.
Usually it is, but not every crawl space calls for the same approach. We look at the height, at standing water and at how damp it is, something that comes up more often on the polder ground around Hoofddorp than on sandy soil. During the survey we crawl underneath, measure everything and show you what we find. If there is too little room for floor insulation, we say so and explain why ground insulation makes more sense in that case.

In districts like Getsewoud in Nieuw-Vennep and in Badhoevedorp and Zwaanshoek, roof insulation therefore delivers comfort quickly, summer and winter. For residents around the Haarlemmermeerse Bos and Big Spotters Hill we often combine insulating the roof with work on the crawl space.
The apartments and low-rise blocks near the centre, around Hoofddorp station and the Beukenhorst office district, often belong to an owners association (VvE). There it comes down to good coordination with the board and to insulating the crawl spaces beneath entire blocks.
