Fitter blowing insulation beads into the cavity wall of a home in Hoofddorp

Cavity wall insulation Hoofddorp

Heat that escapes through the facade is tackled fastest with a filled cavity. We measure the cavity first and then blow in insulation beads or fibre.

What does cavity wall insulation involve?

Almost every home in Hoofddorp and the rest of the Haarlemmermeer that was built after the post-war reconstruction has a cavity: a narrow layer of air between the inner and outer wall. If that layer is empty, your facade cools down quickly and the heat is drawn to the outside.

We fill that layer of air by blowing insulation beads, fibre or mineral wool through small openings in the joints. For most terraced houses we are finished within a morning or an afternoon.

You will feel the difference in the first cold season: warmer walls, less draught along the facade and a heating system that has to run less often.

Benefits

What a filled cavity gives you

  • Lower heating costs

Your facade holds the warmth better, so the boiler needs to top up less.

  • A more comfortable home

Warm walls and less draught give a more even indoor climate all year round.

  • Quickly arranged

In most homes the cavity is filled in a day, with no mess indoors.

  • Less gas used

Less heating means less CO2, a small measure with a lasting effect.

Wildlife-friendly cavity wall filling with care for animals in Hoofddorp
An eye for wildlife in the facade

First check the facade, then fill it

An empty cavity is sometimes a shelter for house sparrows, swifts or bats. Before we blow in anything at all, we check the facade for these residents and take the breeding season into account. That way we never seal in protected animals.

Where possible we work with natural, biobased filling beads. You then insulate your home without the wildlife nearby suffering because of the work.

Why us

Why have your cavity in Hoofddorp filled by us?

Filling a cavity sounds simple, but a wrong estimate of the width or the material achieves little or even causes problems. That is why we take the time for the survey first.

  • Familiar with Haarlemmermeer construction

From the post-war growth neighbourhoods in Hoofddorp to the older ribbon development in Badhoevedorp, we know per building period what the cavity looks like and whether filling makes sense.

  • We measure before we drill

With a borescope we look inside the cavity and measure the width. If filling turns out to add nothing in your case, we simply leave the machine where it is.

  • Neatly blown in, neatly left behind

Our own fitters spread the material evenly and repoint the joints afterwards. In most homes it is finished in a day.

  • Help with the paperwork for your grant

We work out whether you qualify for the national ISDE grant as a homeowner or the SVVE scheme as an owners' association (VvE), and help you with the application.

Cavity wall insulation in Hoofddorp and Graan voor Visch

A filled cavity in Hoofddorp pays for itself

The Haarlemmermeer was only drained in 1852, so almost the entire housing stock is from the 20th century. It is exactly those homes that have a cavity that fills well. In post-war Hoofddorp neighbourhoods such as Graan voor Visch, Bornholm and Pax that cavity is often still empty, which means heat escapes through the facade every day. Filling it noticeably lowers your consumption and regularly raises the energy label a step.

We work throughout the municipality, from the centre around the Marktplein and the Polderplein shopping centre to Overbos and the old village of Nieuw-Vennep. Before the first bead goes into the facade, we measure the cavity and tell you whether it is worthwhile in your situation.

What clients in Hoofddorp and the surrounding area say

Real stories from residents and owners’ associations we helped to a warmer, more energy-efficient home.

They measured the cavity first and only then advised us. No sales talk, just filling what was needed, and they helped with the subsidy application too.
Rob de Wit Bornholm, Hoofddorp · Terraced house · cavity wall insulation
Our crawl space was regularly damp. After the ground insulation the musty smell is gone and it stays much more pleasant downstairs. Tidy work and everything cleaned up.

Grants and savings

Insulate with help from a grant

Saving on the energy bill with insulation, calculated with the insulation calculator

Insulation brings more comfort and a lower energy bill, and you will often qualify for a grant. How much you save and what you get back depends on your home, the measure and the insulation you already have. We work it out together with you.

Private homeowners in Hoofddorp and the surrounding area can use the national ISDE grant when they take two or more measures. For owners' associations there is the SVVE scheme. The conditions and amounts change from year to year, so we look together at what is possible right now and help you with the application.

  • SVVE for owners' associations

A better insulated home is more pleasant all year round and costs less to heat.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about cavity wall insulation

Cannot find your question? Feel free to call or message us, we are always happy to help.

Is my cavity wide enough to fill?

That depends on the width and the condition of the walls. We slide a borescope through a small hole and measure the cavity during the survey. Only when the space is wide and clean enough do we recommend filling it.

How much disruption does the blowing-in cause indoors?

Very little. We work from the outside through small holes in the joints, which we then close up so you barely notice them afterwards. You do not have to clear anything out and in most homes we are finished in a day.

Which material do you blow into the cavity?

Depending on your home, we use insulation beads, rock wool or a natural, biobased material. During the survey we explain the differences and choose together what suits your facade best.

Do I qualify for a grant?

Often you do. Private homeowners can usually apply for the national ISDE grant when taking two or more measures, while owners' associations use the SVVE scheme. The conditions change each year, so we work it out for your situation and help with the application.

Can cavity wall insulation cause damp in the wall?

Not with a healthy facade. Damp only occurs if it is already in the wall or if the facade is in poor condition. That is why we examine the cavity and the outer wall thoroughly first. If we see a risk, we tackle the cause before we blow anything in.

What does it cost to have my cavity filled?

The price mainly depends on the facade surface area and the chosen material. A terraced house is filled more quickly than a detached house with a lot of facade. After the survey you receive a fixed price tailored to your home. The measuring and advice cost you nothing.

Which places in the Haarlemmermeer do you work in?

Besides Hoofddorp we fill cavity walls in Nieuw-Vennep, Badhoevedorp, Zwanenburg, Vijfhuizen, Lisserbroek and Rijsenhout, among others. Do you live just outside that list? Feel free to ask.

Cavity wall insulation per neighbourhood in Hoofddorp and the Haarlemmermeer

As an insulation company in the Haarlemmermeer we see big differences per build year. In the Hoofddorp growth neighbourhoods from the 1960s to the 1980s, such as Graan voor Visch, Bornholm and Pax, there is a cavity that fills perfectly well. The slightly later homes in Overbos sometimes already have some insulation, but far from always enough to keep the cold out of the facade.

Cavity filling outside Hoofddorp, in Nieuw-Vennep and Badhoevedorp

In the old centre of Nieuw-Vennep and along the older ribbon development of Badhoevedorp, homes from all sorts of periods stand mixed together. Some have a generous cavity, others a narrow one or even a solid wall with no cavity at all. That is why we look inside every home with the borescope before we recommend anything.

Working area around Hoofddorp and the whole Haarlemmermeer

Outside Hoofddorp we fill cavity walls in Nieuw-Vennep, Badhoevedorp, Zwanenburg, Vijfhuizen and Lisserbroek, among others. Is your cavity already full, but the floor feels cold? Then floor insulation is often the logical next step.
